Permit application process

We are able to guide employers throughout the permit application process, providing personalized advice according to program requirements and handling the preparation and submission of applications.

Here are descriptions of the different permits and visas:

  • Closed Work Permit for a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW):

This permit allows foreign workers to come to Canada to occupy a specific job and for a determined duration. It is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and is tied to a specific Canadian employer.

  • Visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) Application:

In some cases, foreign nationals must obtain a visitor visa in addition to a work permit to enter Canada. The visa is a travel document issued by the Canadian embassy in the applicant’s home country and is necessary to enter Canada. Those who do not need a visa usually need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

  • Open Work Permit for Spouse:

This permit allows the spouse or common-law partner of a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) to obtain a work permit allowing them to work for the company of their choice for the same duration as the permit granted to their spouse or partner.

  • CAQ for Studies for Children:

The Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) is a document issued by the Quebec government for international students wishing to study in Quebec. It is mandatory to obtain a study permit in Canada. Children over 6 years of foreign workers need a CAQ for studies to be able to study in Quebec.

These permits and documents are subject to specific requirements and separate application procedures. It is important to consult the competent authorities and comply with the rules and regulations in force when applying for these permits.

Processing times for permit applications:

We understand that time is essential when it comes to applying for permits for foreign workers. The processing times for applications differ depending on the candidates’ countries of origin.
